Surabhi goes live over toll plaza plight

A Facebook video of National award winning Malayalam actress Surabhi Lakshmi, in which she has highlighted the plight of motorists passing by the Paliyekkara Toll Plaza on Mannuthy-Angamali-Edappalli toll highway in Kerala, has been going viral.

Anguished over hours-long wait to cross the plaza, the actress stepped out of her car and went live on Facebook complaining about the rude behaviour of workers posted at the toll plaza. “I am on my way to a programme, but my vehicle is not allowed to pass through the toll booth and has been stopped for the payment,” she said.

The video also showed parents carrying their children to hospital getting stuck in the traffic and others complaining about the daily ordeal in the booth. The actress appealed for action against the company and asserted to the people a need to fight and react against it.

It is said that the toll company has been directed to allow vehicles to go without paying the fee if more than five vehicles arrive at a time. However, the toll plaza employees refuse to abide by the rules, leading to clashes between them and the commuters.
