The soul-stirring video that has gone viral, has Mallika performing a mournful dance as a farewell gesture to her mother and guru, who had made a colossal contribution to promote classical Indian dance worldwide.

Mallika performed to Krishna Nee Begane Baro, a popular Carnatic composition in praise of Lord Krishna, while other students stood around the body depicting dance mudras.

There couldn’t have been a more befitting tribute to the late Padma Bhushan awardee Mrinalini Sarabhai, than by doing what she dedicated her entire life doing — Indian classical dance.
