Vijay re-confirms retirement from cinema

The grand audio launch unfolded on a massive scale at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil in Malaysia, drawing thousands of fans from across countries

CHENNAI: After more than three decades of an illustrious film journey, actor Vijay has confirmed his retirement from cinema at the Jana Nayagan audio launch event in c. The actor-politician will be focusing on his political career after this, which he already announced last year.

The grand audio launch unfolded on a massive scale at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil in Malaysia, drawing thousands of fans from across countries. More than an audio launch, the event was a fitting tribute to Vijay’s journey, bringing back his iconic films and songs.

Starting his film career with Naalaiya Theerpu in 1992, Vijay had a major breakthrough with Poove Unakaga in 1996. He has acted in 69 films as a lead and performed double and triple action, and antagonist roles as well.

Directed by H Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan stars Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani in pivotal roles.

Anirudh Ravichander is composing the tunes, while Sathyan Sooryan is the cinematographer. Pradeep E Ragav will oversee the cuts.

The film is all set to hit the screens on January 9.
