Tamil films are being remade across the country

In 2019, Niddhi Aggerwal with back-to-back successes of Mr Majnu with Akhil Akkineni and Ismart Shankar directed by Puri Jagannadh went on to carve a niche for herself.

The actress says that she is excited to have two releases (Jayam Ravi’s Bhoomi and STR’s Eeswaran for Pongal). “It is a blessing for any actor to have an OTT release and a theatrical release. I am planning to watch Eeswaran with the fans on the first day with masks and proper sanitisation. People at home will get to watch me on the OTT platform in Bhoomi. Both these films will have me in different roles and I believe they would like me in these characters,” she says.

According to the actress, Bhoomi was comparatively challenging than Eeswaran. “I had to shoot for tough scenes on the very first day of the shoot. Director Lakshman asked me to emote as much as I could so that he could capture them. It was a huge learning curve,” she adds. Talking about Eeswaran, Niddhi says, “It is one of the quickest projects. We started the shoot when the lockdown was lifted with a few relaxations and completed it in 25 days.”

Having made her debut in Hindi with Tiger Shroff and having a hat-trick of successes to her name in Telugu, Niddhi dabbles easily between English and Tamil.

“I picked up Tamil from my neighbours in Bengaluru when I was a kid. Also, I made it a point to learn Tamil because this is the industry that makes good films. In the last few years, a lot of Tamil films were remade in other languages. Thanks to great filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Vetri Maaran,” she concludes.
