Nayanthara began shooting for her 65th film Netrikann in September 2019. Produced by her beau Vignesh Shivn’s Rowdy Pictures, the film is being directed by Milind Rau of Aval fame. The latest buzz in tinseltown is that Netrikann will be one of the first films to resume shooting immediately after the lockdown is lifted next week. A source in the tinseltown told DT Next, “The film was in its final schedule when the lockdown began. With only a few more days of shoot left, they have sought the government’s permission to resume the shoot next week. The team has also given a brief about shooting with social distancing in practice and with a minimum crew.” Nayanthara plays a visuallychallenged person in Netrikann.

The film will have music by Marinafame Girishh, cinematography by Karthik Ganesh G, and editing by Lawrence Kishore. Netrikann was also the title of Rajinikanth's iconic 1981 film made under Kavithalayaa Productions. Talking about Netrikann, Vignesh Shivan had said, “We owe a lot to Superstar Rajinikanth sir, Late director K Balachander Sir and Mrs. Pushpa of Kavithalayaa Productions for giving us the title. Milind has come up with an intriguing script. Like his previous film Aval, Netrikann too will be an edge-of-the-seat thriller,” he said.
