Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh is on a signing spree in Tamil. The off-spinner will play an important role in Santhanam’s Dikkilona and as Thiruvalluvar in a web series. The latest is that Bhajji will be making his debut as a hero for the first time. To be produced and directed by John Paul Raj and Sham Surya, the movie will have Losliya, who rose to fame with Bigg Boss season 3 as the female lead. Talking to DT Next, John said, “Friendship is inspired from a Malayalam film. Most of the story takes place on a college campus. Moreover, there is no love involved between Harbhajan and Losliya through the film. The film deals with friendship, sports and college politics,”he said.

Talking about roping in Harbhajan as the hero, John said, “We were looking for a Bollywood actor to play the lead. After Bhajji announced his decision to foray into films, we asked for his appointment and narrated the story. He liked the story and agreed to do it. Though he has been getting a lot of offers in Hindi, he wanted to make his debut as a hero in Tamil.” Talking about the shooting schedules, the director-producer said, “The film will start rolling in Coimbatore soon and we are aiming to release it in the second half of this year.”
