However, the teaser of Jaanu (the Telugu version of the film) was recently released and it instantly grabbed the attention of the audience. Featuring Samantha and Sharwanand in the lead role, Jaanu seemed to be a faithful remake of 96.

One of her fans took to Twitter and praised  Samantha that she had added her own flavour and style to Jaanu. The actress replied saying she had no intention to copy Trisha’s performance and that’s what makes the film special.

She wrote, “Yes, I felt it was important to not try and copy the most perfect performance @trishtrashers.. wouldn’t work .. #Jaanu is not made for comparison only to share an experience that more people deserve to feel.” (sic) It is worth mentioning that the Telugu version of the film is also directed by C Prem Kumar, who directed the original.
