Talking to DT Next, the director of the film John said, “Friendship is inspired from a Malayalam film. Most of the story takes place on a college campus. Moreover, there is no love involved between Harbhajan and Losliya throughout the film. The film deals with friendship, sports and college politics. After Bhajji announced his decision to foray into films, we asked for his appointment and narrated the story. He liked the story and agreed to do it. Though he has been getting a lot of offers in Hindi, he wanted to make his debut as a hero in Tamil.” The film will go on floors next month in Coimbatore and hit the screens later this year. Comedian Sathish too has been roped in for yet another role in the film.
