COIMBATORE: BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Tuesday said the party’s national leadership hasn't commenced seat-sharing talks with AIADMK for the upcoming assembly polls.

Speaking to media persons in Coimbatore, the BJP leader said Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met BJP leaders just to discuss the State's current political situation. “He also met AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, but no talks on seat allocation took place,” he said.

Responding to a query on whether discussions were held to bring back TTV Dhinakaran and O Panneerselvam into the NDA, the BJP leader said, “No such negotiations took place. However, there are no permanent friends or permanent foes in politics. We only discussed how the last Assembly polls unfolded, the current political scenario and the vote percentage from Parliamentary polls. Our main objective is to remove the DMK from power, and all like-minded parties should unite towards that goal.”

On speculation on the impact of TVK leader Vijay in the upcoming polls, Nagendran said there are still three months left for the elections. “So, it might be impossible to predict whose votes would be split or which alliance will influence the outcome,” he said.

The BJP leader said bringing back PMK or DMDK to the alliance will be known after Pongal.
