Vijaya Baskar’s PA, driver killed in accident

Five persons, including the special personal assistant of Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar were killed and 14 others injured, few of them grievously in two separate road accidents in this district on Sunday.

Five persons, including the special personal assistant of Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar were killed and 14 others injured, few of them grievously in two separate road accidents in this district on Sunday.


Police said R Venkatesh (31) alias Bhav and P Selvam (38), a driver of the Sports Utility Vehicle were killed when it rammed into a tree at Veera Perumalpatti village near Iluppur in the district. Venkatesh was the personal assistant of Health Minister Vijaya Baskar. He was returning to his native place Parambur after seeing off the Minister at Tiruchy airport, when the accident occurred.


Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami condoled the deaths of Venkatesh and Selvam.

Three killed, 14 injured in collision

In another incident, three persons, including a 10-year-old boy were killed and 14 others injured, a few of them grievously in a head-on collision between a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus and a truck at Pillamangalam village near Thirumayam.

Two passengers of the TNSC bus and the driver of truck were killed in the collision. The injured passengers were admitted to Government Medical College Hospital.
