Vijay Narayan is Tamil Nadu's new Advocate General

Senior advocate Vijay Narayan was appointed Tamil Nadu's Advocate General following the resignation of R Muthukumaraswamy.

The appointment was made by the state government after Muthukumaraswamy tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons.

Narayan is presently president of Madras Bar Association, the oldest association of lawyers in the country.

Narayan comes from a family of lawyers. His grandfather was the legendary MK Nambyar, who was responsible to a great extent for the development of constitutional law in India, while his uncle is KK Venugopal is Attorney General of India.

Vijay Narayan has argued a wide variety of cases, including cases on service law, labour law, constitutional law, administrative law and commercial law.
