Chennai: Earlier, Stalin visited the memorial and paid tribute to the leader on his birth anniversary. He garlanded Ambedkar’s photo kept in the memorial and administered the ‘Equality Day’ pledge to Ministers, officials, DMK and VCK party men. After the function, Thirumavalavan gifted the statue. Following the demands of VCK and other Dalit leaders, Stalin, on Wednesday, had announced that the birth anniversary of Ambedkar will be celebrated at ‘Equality Day’ and his life-size statue would be installed at his memorial.
Thiruma demands action:
In another tweet, Thirumavalavan, urged the government to take action against BJP cadre who attacked VCK party men with stones and damaged their flag while they were paying respect to Ambedkar in Koyambedu. Three people were hurt. Thirumavalavan said after he garlanded the statue and addressed the media, BJP cadre were screaming ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and were involved in violence.
