Unidentified vehicle runs over 3 drummers

Three native drummers were killed on the spot when their two-wheeler was hit by an unknown vehicle from behind and sped away without stopping at Girisamudram on the Vellore – Bengaluru national highway on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Velu (25), Tamil Sundar (24) and Santosh (20), residents of villages near Chinnapallikuppam adjacent to Vaniyambadi town.


The trio were on their way to Kethandapatti near Tirupattur on their two-wheeler when their vehicle was hit from behind by an unknown vehicle resulting in Velu and Tamil Sundar being killed on the spot while Santosh was seriously injured.


Vaniyambadi Taluk police rushed to the location and sent Santosh to the Vaniyambadi government hospital and later shifted to the Vellore government medical college hospital.


However, Santosh succumbed on the way to the Vellore hospital. A case was registered. Investigations have been started to trace the killer vehicle.
