The video was released by BJP worker Madhan Ravichandran, who had recently joined the party. Madhan, in his post, said that the alleged sexual abuse video was released after getting Annamalai’s consent.

As the video went viral, Congress MP Jothimani petitioned state DGP C Sylendra Babu demanding a detailed police investigation against the BJP leader. The Congress MP also recalled the Pollachi sex scandal issue and alleged that the BJP and AIADMK functionaries suppressed such crimes against women.

Raghavan later tweeted, “The video is aimed at tarnishing my image and affiliation with the party. I have been in political life for three decades with a clean image. Dharma will triumph, and these are baseless frivolous allegations and I will legally face this.”

Annamalai also updated the top brass in Delhi and the party is investigating the issue. In another statement, the State party president also said the party has formed a probe committee to be led by State secretary Malarkodi. “The authenticity of the video will be verified and a probe will be conducted to initiate further action,” Annamalai said.
