“I think there is no need for the release of the film at this time,” Haasan told reporters at Chennai airport when asked about his stand on the Congress demand seeking ban on the release of “PM Narendra Modi.”

The Congress has moved the Election Commission to get the release of the biopic on Modi deferred till the final phase of voting in the Lok Sabha polls on May 19, alleging that it would violate the mode code of conduct and influence voters.

The biopic features Bollywood actor Vivek Anand Oberoi in the titular role and chronicles the life and events that made Modi the Prime Minister.

When asked about the public response for his party’s election campaign, he said so far he was happy with it.
