Justice S Vaidyanathan before whom the plea came up for hearing on Tuesday seeking to allow him to stay at Oragadam, Kancheepuram due to the prevailing pandemic situation, directed the Principal Secretary, Public (ForeignersI) Department and Tiruchy District Collector to file their status report on April 9.

The judge also recorded the submission of the petitioner’s counsel that there is no social distancing in the camp and it can accommodate only 40 persons, whereas 80 persons have been confined therein.

The counsel had further submitted that if anyone is infected with coronavirus, the life of other inmates, including the petitioners herein, will be put to danger.

The petitioner Choe Jae Wong (41), General Manager, Chowel India Private Limited, which is engaged in manufacturing cowl bar, bumper and seat frames used in motor vehicles had obtained two separate Central Excise Registration in 2006 and 2013. Moreover, the company having collected GST from the buyers have not remitted the same to the Government since 2017 with the liability working out to over Rs 40 crore.
