PMK to contest alone in local body elections

In an unexpected move, the PMK on Tuesday officially announced that it would go it alone in the upcoming rural local body elections.

PMK President GK Mani, in a statement, said that a meeting of representatives of nine newly formed districts was held on Tuesday in which a decision to this effect was taken “considering the growth of the party.” The nomination for rural local body elections in the nine newly formed districts will commence on Wednesday.
