Congratulating Narayanasamy for adopting the resolution in the Assembly of the Union Territory, Stalin said, “By passing a resolution in the Assembly in favour of reservation and against CAA, NPR, NRC, ignoring the threat of Lieutenant Governor, the Puducherry Chief Minister has bravely demonstrated his conviction towards noble principles like democracy, secularism and social justice.”

“In passing a historically significant resolution, Chief Minister Narayanasamy has secured a revolutionary space in Puducherry history,” Stalin remarked. “I wholeheartedly appreciate the fearlessness of Narayanasamy, who, like our leader Karunanidhi, has done it, unmindful of even losing power,” he added, in a statement issued on Thursday.

The principal opposition party has been urging the ruling AIADMK to adopt a resolution in the state Assembly against the CAA, emulating the Left ruled Kerala Assembly which was the first to officially declare in the House that it would not implement NPR. The 100-MLA strong DMK legislature party had even petitioned the Assembly secretariat in this regard a few days ago.
