Passenger robbed of Rs 1 cr on bus

Salem police are probing into a complaint that a passenger was robbed of Rs 1 crore on an omni bus bound for Coimbatore early on Tuesday.

According to the police, Harish, 32, an LIC agent from Coimbatore, was returning from Hyderabad by an omni bus, when his money was stolen.


“He sold some jewels in Hyderabad and was returning with the huge amount kept in a bag. When the bus reached Vaiguntham toll gate near Sankagiri in Salem district, Harish informed the bus crew that his bag containing Rs 1 crore has been stolen,” the police said.


On receiving a complaint, the Sakagiri police held an inquiry with him. The police are probing if any passenger alighted midway from the bus. Also investigations are on to know from whom he got the money by selling the jewels in Hyderabad.
