Nominations begin for TN local polls

The vote will choose ward members, members of the panchayat unions and village panchayats.

The process of nomination of candidates in Tamil Nadu's local elections opened today. 

Twenty-seven districts will choose local leaders in the polls on Dec 27 and 30. Elections in the remaining nine new districts will be conducted in four months as ordered by the Supreme Court. 

The nomination process will end on December 16.

The vote will choose ward members, members of the panchayat unions and village panchayats.

The votes will be counted on January 2, according to the state election authorities.
