Nepal youth possessing Aadhaar held

A citizen of Nepal, who was working in a hotel here in the city and found to be in possession of an Aadhaar card and other documents that were illegally obtained, was detained by the police.

According to sources, Ferozkhan (35) from Tiruchy lodged a complaint with the City Commissioner of Police stating that his wife Azeena (27) went missing, and stated that she would have been kidnapped by a Nepal citizen who had been staying in Tiruchy and was working in a hotel at Singarathopu where there are reportedly many Nepali residents staying illegally and working.


Officials from the City Commissionerate forwarded the complaint to the Palakkarai police who visited the spot and conducted an inquiry. It was then found that one of the Nepali residents was in possession of Indian identity documents-including Aadhaar.


Subsequently, the police seized the documents and are conducting a detailed inquiry with the youth from Nepal. Further investigations are on.
