CHENNAI: The AIADMK on Sunday announced state-wide meetings to honour the heroes of the anti-Hindi agitation launched in 1965, marking 61 years of the language struggle.

In a statement, party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said that the struggle launched in Tamil Nadu on January 25, 1965, against Hindi imposition was a great revolution unprecedented in the world.


He said that it was the duty of all to pay homage to the language martyrs who sacrificed their lives in that struggle. In order to pay tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for Tamil, "Martyrs' Day public meetings" will be held on Sunday, January 25, he said. He asked all the districts to actively take part in the meetings.


He also advised the AIADMK Students' Wing to conduct a procession and pay homage to the portraits of the language martyrs who sacrificed their lives.
