CHENNAI: Alleging that the DMK regime is trying to tamper the evidence in the alleged Tasmac scam, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss claimed that the present slew of cases being inquired by anti corruption agency DVAC under the State government must be transferred to CBI for the sake of a transparent probe. He claimed that there are more than 40 cases against Tasmac.
In a statement, Anbumani said that several shocking pieces of information have been unearthed during the last two days, referring to the raids conducted by the Enforcement Directorate, which functions under the Union government led by the BJP, which is following up on the DVAC cases. “It is condemnable that the rulers are trying to tamper with the evidence even though it has been revealed that persons close to the government and the managing director are linked to the case,” he said.
He added that the DVAC has registered more than 40 cases, including those related to transport agreement, bar allocation and money collected from customers beyond MRP. “Moreover, the Enforcement Directorate raided distilleries in the state and found out Rs 1,000 crore corruption in March. Raids at Tasmac MD Visakan and Akash Baskaran, a film producer and close aide to the rulers, have led to a fresh bombshell,” he claimed.
He alleged that WhatsApp communications were made between the officials and persons closer to the rulers pertaining to the allocation of bar, procurement and others. “Tasmac is the cash cow for the government, despite it affecting several families. DMK came to power promising clean governance. But, Tasmac corruption peaked, and the incumbent is trying to protect the persons involved in the corruption. A few cases have been closed, and bids are on to close remaining cases by claiming lack of evidence,” he claimed.
He urged the government to face the charges and cases straightaway and come clean.
