CHENNAI: A complaint has been filed against former DMK leader MK Alagiri’s daughter Kayalvizhi Alagiri for allegedly assaulting and threatening the branch manager of the State Bank of India's NRI branch in Adyar.

The police said Kayalvizhi owns the building from where the bank branch functions.

According to the police complaint lodged by Namachivayam, Chief Manager of SBI RBO-II, the incident happened on July 21 when branch manager Harsheen Singh contacted Kayalvizhi, the building owner, regarding the repair of a faulty lift. Singh reportedly reached out after the owner's representative allegedly failed to respond to his complaints.

Furious over being contacted directly over a civil issue, Kayalvizhi allegedly visited the branch to speak with the manager. When the conversation turned sour, she turned aggressive, alleged the complaint. The CCTV that went viral shows her slapping the bank official, while the complaint said she abused and threatened Singh.

In the complaint, the Chief Manager sought appropriate legal action against Kayalvizhi. When asked, police officials confirmed that a case has been registered and said investigations were under way.

The bank has not made any official statement regarding the incident, and further details are awaited.
