Even as arrests were continuing in the TNPSC scam, complaints of irregularities in TET conducted by Teacher’s Recruitment Board (TRB) have come to light, Stalin said on Thursday.
Some candidates, who have raised doubts over selection of many candidates from a centre in Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s native Salem district, have told media that they have complained about the same to the CM, added Stalin in a messaged posted on his official Facebook page.Wondering if the investigation has been started on the scams, the DMK president said, “If it has not been started, it should be done immediately and the culprits arrested forthwith.”
“Following TNPSC Group-I and 2A, VAO, police and TET scams have also surfaced. The government should order a CBI probe covering all recruitment scams without any delay,” the Leader of Opposition exhorted.
Earlier, the DMK chief had demanded the resignation of state Personnel Minister D Jayakumar for the TNPSC recruitment scam, which he defined as a Himalayan scam larger than the Vyapam scam.
The principal opposition had even petitioned Governor Banwarilal Purohit, urging him to sack Jayakumar if the government fails to do so. A few MLAs of the party met the Governor and handed over the petition on behalf of the deputy legislature party leader and party treasurer Duraimurugan.
Stalin seeks explanation on more Tasmac shops
Leader of Opposition MK Stalin has asked the ruling AIADMK to come clear on the issue of enforcing prohibition in the state in a phased manner. Reacting to the story in DT Next, revealing the opening of 2,000 liquor shops in the last two years, which was contrary to the promise of enforcing prohibition in a phased manner, Stalin on Thursday said, “Over 2,000 Tasmac shops have been opened in the last three years. Another 200 shops to be opened.” “What has become of the promise of enforcing prohibition in a phased manner? This is the double standard of the AIADMK regime, which promises something in the Assembly and public forum, but acts on the contrary,” added the Leader of Opposition whose party had promised total prohibition in its manifesto for the 2016 Assembly elections. The ruling AIADMK had closed 1,500 Tasmac shops following an order of the Supreme Court to close liquor outlets on highways. The total number of Tasmac outlets in the state had increased from 2,820 in 2017-18 fiscal to 3,866 in 2018-19. The following year (2019-20), it rose sharply to 5,151 shops, recording an increase of 2,295 shops in just three years.
