CHENNAI: Chief Minister Vijay on Friday visited important heritage monuments inside Fort St George, nearly 12 days after assuming office as Chief Minister.

Fort St George, one of the oldest administrative complexes in the country, houses the Tamil Nadu Secretariat and several key government offices.

Vijay first visited St Mary's Church, one of the oldest churches in India, located inside the fort complex.

He later visited the museum functioning under the control of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), where officials briefed him on the historical significance of the fort and the archaeological artefacts displayed there.

The Chief Minister travelled within the campus using the battery vehicle arranged by the Greater Chennai Corporation.

During the nearly half-hour visit, TVK cadres, Secretariat employees and members of the public gathered along the route to greet the Chief Minister.
