Petitioner’s counsel R Neelakandan made an urgent mention before Justice N Sathish Kumar seeking an urgent hearing on the plea. Accepting the plea, the judge said that he would hear the case on March 24.

The issue pertains to a FIR which was registered against Bharathi for his alleged speech degrading the SC and ST communities in a meeting organised by Kalaignar Reading Circle on February 20.

He submitted that the complaint was given against him by selectively quoting few lines from the speech.
