Anbumani slams delay in reconstituting BC Commission

Anbumani said the delay was unacceptable as backward classes, most backward classes, and minorities rely on the commission to safeguard their welfare

CHENNAI: PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday criticised the DMK government for failing to reconstitute the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes Commission, even a week after the previous panel’s tenure ended.

He said the delay was unacceptable as backward classes, most backward classes, and minorities rely on the commission to safeguard their welfare. In a statement, Anbumani pointed out that the commission, formed on November 17, 2022, headed by retired Madras High Court Judge V Bharathidasan, completed its three-year term on November 16, and that a fresh commission should have been formed immediately after its term ended.

He accused the government of deliberately stalling the process.
