Shukla chaired a meeting in Karur to review the arrangements for the upcoming election, in which IGs Seshasai (Elections), Varadharaju (Central zone), Tiruchy Range DIG Lalitha Lakshmi, Karur SP T K Rajasekaran and other senior officers took part.

After conducting the meeting, the DGP told reporters that a total of 3,173 police personnel would be deployed for security during the by-election in Aravakurichi Assembly constituency. “This apart, a company of paramilitary force would also be deployed. Our ultimate aim is to conduct free and fair elections to ensure maximum participation in the polling,” he said.

Meanwhile, the DGP said that 23 checkposts have been established in the constituency. The surveillance would be beefed up before 2 days of the polling day to prevent any outstation vehicles or people entering the polling zone without valid reasons, he said.

Earlier, the paramilitary forces headed by Karur SP T K Rajasekaran along with Karur district collector and RO T Anbalagan held a flag march in the streets of Aravakurichi and Pallapatti to create awareness among people. They encouraged the people to come out and vote without any fear.
