Accompanied by her lawyers, the legislator reached the Assembly complex just before the start of the day’s sitting. While her lawyers were denied permission to enter the complex at the main gate (MLAs gate),  Roja was stopped by marshals from entering the House.

Leader of the Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy who witnessed the altercation between Roja’s lawyers and police at the main gate of the complex, tried to bring the advocates in his car but to no avail. Reddy along with some party legislators later staged a dharna in front of the Gandhi statue in the Assembly complex, protesting against the denial of entry to Roja into the House.

Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao said that the high court stay order could be discussed in the House.  Justice A. Ramalingeshwar Rao of the Hyderabad High Court had on Thursday stayed the operation of the orders passed against Roja suspending her from the House for one year (she was suspended during the last session of the Assembly).

Roja complained that she was not served the order of suspension but was given the notification issued by the Secretariat of the Assembly. The interim orders made clear that the stay order would not preclude the House from taking action based on the report of the Privileges Committee.

According to the legislature secretariat sources, the Assembly will approach the high court seeking stay on the interim orders passed by a single judge, setting aside the suspension of Roja from the House for one year. The Assembly secretary was expected to appeal to a division bench of the High Court to grant stay on the single judge’s orders.
