PM Modi unveils naval ensign after induction of INS Vikrant

CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the naval ensign following the induction of INS Vikrant into service in Kochi.

The heptagonal ensign is in yellow and blue colour with an anchor under the Ashoka capital lions with the Indian Tricolour flag placed at the left top. Both are embedded in a white flag.

The Indian Navy on Twitter made the announcement, "#Historical...Hon'ble PM @narendramodi unveils the new #naval ensign making 02 Sep 2022 as a momentous day in the history of #IndianNavy #HarKaamDeshKeNaam @DefenceMinIndia @Indiannavy."

Modi on Friday inducted the indigenous naval vessel INS Vikrant into service at the Kochi naval base.

Features of INS Vikrant:

The naval vessel measures to 262 metres in length, 62 metres in breadth, 59 metres in height. The IAC Vikrant consist of 14 decks with 2,300 compartments which can carry around 1,500 sea warriors and to cater to the food requirements, around 10,000 chapatis or rotis are made in the ship's kitchen, which is called the ship's galley. The ship is powered by four Gas Turbines totalling 88 MW power and has a maximum speed of 28 Knots.
