Woman killed in road accident

A resident of Kannagi Nagar, who was travelling pillion on a two-wheeler with her husband and six-month-old daughter, died after the bike was hit by a load auto in Turaipakkam on Old Mahabalipuram Road on Saturday night. The police identified the deceased as Vidya, wife of Chinnathambi.

They were travelling with their daughter Darshini when the mishap happened. “Vidya died on the spot while her husband and daughter escaped with injuries,” the police said. Manikandan, the driver of load auto, was overpowered by the local people and thrashed. He was found to be drunk. Manikandan was later handed over to the police.
