Will make Thanjai a tourist hub: Anjugam

The Thanjavur constituency has started to witness the action on the field with DMK candidate Dr Anjugam Boopathy, sentimentally commenced her campaign from Vallam after garlanding the statues of Dravidian leaders, EV Ramasamy Periyar and Annadurai, accompanied by a large gathering of party cadre on Monday.

During the campaign, the 29-year-old candidate, who is the first woman nominee of DMK for Thanjavur was accompanied by senior functionaries of the district unit of the party. Anjugam canvassed votes in Anna Nagar, Bharathi Nagar, Bazaar, Vallam Bus stand and other nearby areas. The much elated cadre shouted slogans in favour of the party and the candidate while seeking votes. 

The candidate during her interaction with the electorate assured that she would develop Thanjavur as a potential tourist spot as there were a large number of places highlighting the Chola architecture and temple art She also promised to work for improving the facilities at Thanjavur Medical College Hospital and Raja Mirasudar Government Hospital. The DMK candidate claimed that the ruling party was not active. So, the DMK was playing a responsible opposition party.  Assuring to bring the required development schemes to the constituency, she said that improving facilities in the region was top on her agenda. 

Promising to address all the issues faced the farming community, Anjugam said that if elected she would work for the all-round development of farmers and their families. She is expected to file her papers on October 28 (Friday). 

EV Velu replaces Nehru 

Meanwhile, the DMK replaced former Minister and Tiruchy West MLA KN Nehru with former Minister EV Velu as incharge of Aravakurichi segment for some administrative issues. Nehru may work for Thanjavur candidate as the office bearers are asked to concentrate on the segment.
