CHENNAI: The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced a 48-hour suspension of piped drinking water supply in parts of Tiruvottiyur and Manali zones due to infrastructure works under the North Chennai Development Project.

In Zone 1 (Tiruvottiyur), wards 1 to 14 covering Ennore, Kathivakkam, Ernavur, Tiruvottiyur and Kaladipet will be affected while in Zone 2 (Manali), water supply will be disrupted in Sadayankuppam. The pumping stations will remain shut from 10 am on December 22-24 (Monday to Wednesday).

The disruption is to facilitate the construction of a 1 million litre capacity underground water sump at the Tiruvottiyur pumping station on Manali Kamarajar Salai, during which the station’s main drinking water pipeline will be realigned.
