TN rains: 10 Chennai-bound flights diverted to Bengaluru

The flights that were supposed to take off from Chennai airport also got delayed due to rain.

CHENNAI: 10 flights that were supposed to land at the Chennai airport were diverted to Bangalore following the rain on Monday.

The Emirates flight that arrived from Dubai with 267 passengers was supposed to land at the Chennai airport at 2.40 am. Due to the rain, the flight could not land in the airport and after hovering in the air for a long time the flight was diverted to Banglore.

Similarly, the flights that arrived from Doha, Abu Dhabi, London, Sarajah, Colombo, Singapore, and Muscat were diverted to Bangalore, since they were unable to land at the Chennai airport.

The flights that were supposed to take off from Chennai airport also got delayed due to rain.

The flights to Delhi, Port Blair, Frankfurt, Dubai, London, Abu Dhabi and Muscat were delayed for up to six hours.

The passengers were put to suffer since there were no proper announcements given on the display boards regarding the cancellations and delays.
