Suspected IS man’s family taken into custody in Tirupur

Central Intelligence agencies and Tamil Nadu police have taken into custody the wife and some family members of a suspected Islamic State (IS) terrorist who was arrested in West Bengal, police said.

Mosiruddin alias Mosi alias Majnu was arrested by NIA from Viswabharati Fast Passenger train at Burdwan station on Tuesday.  Based on his statement that his family was running provision stores in Tirupur for the last six years, the sleuths visited the stores and their residence, police said. After seizing six sim cards, a laptop and two election ID cards, the officials took Mosiruddin’s wife, their two children and two others into custody for questioning Tuesday night, they said.  

During a joint interrogation by Crime Investigation Department, National Investigation Agency and Intelligence Bureau, Mosiruddin had admitted to having links with top IS leaders and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh through e-mails, social networking sites and mobile. A sharp weapon and an airgun were seized from Mosiruddin after he was arrested by Burdwan railway police and the West Bengal police.
