“I came from my State with my son and sister’s family this January. We were performing street plays in the Kodambakkam. However, when the police restricted us from roaming the streets, we thought of going back to our native. But we tried our luck by shifting to Pallavaram and selected residential area in Anakaputhur where we started getting good money,” Saritha said.

“We will wind up our activities before 10 am and then would go to the nearby shelter, which was provided by the residents,” she said.

Saritha’s 13-year-old son, Nilesh, said that he was happy to perform. “One boy offered his savings, Rs 150, to my mother. People are so generous. They also offered clothes and blankets.”
