Police sources said that action was taken against SSI Chandrasekar as he failed to alert senior officers about the situation in Sengadu village due to friction between DMK MLA L Idhayavarman and real estate businessman Imayam G Kumar. “If he had alerted the senior officers that a clash may break out soon after Kumar had lodged complaint about his land having been dug up, police personnel could have been deployed to bring down the tension, and the gun firing could have been averted,” sources said. Meanwhile, Chengalpattu police have arrested two more suspects.
