Singapore-bound flight returns to Chennai airport after technical snag

While midair, the pilot noticed another glitch and alerted the Chennai air traffic control to request an emergency landing.

CHENNAI: The Air India flight to Singapore made an emergency landing in Chennai following a technical snag in the wee hours of Friday.

The flight was scheduled to depart from Chennai with 167 passengers and crew at 12.45 am.

But it was delayed by nearly two hours following a minor snag, after which, the flight departed at 2.30 am.

Minutes after the take-off, the pilot again noticed a technical snag and alerted the Chennai ATC.

Later, the flight was asked to return to Chennai and all arrangements were made on the runway for an emergency landing. At 4.10 am, the flight landed in the city airport.

Passengers were offloaded and made to stay in the waiting hall.

As the fault could not be rectified, the airline arranged another flight, which left Chennai at 7.30 am.
