CHENNAI:The Chennai-Singapore flight was delayed for more than seven hours after the pilot noticed a technical issue, moments before the take-off on Wednesday.
The Air India flight to Singapore was scheduled to depart from Chennai with 162 passengers at 12 pm. Usually, it would arrive from Singapore at 10.40 pm and return to Singapore at 12 pm.
However, on Wednesday the flight arrived late at 11.30 am and was scheduled to depart at 2 pm. When it was time for boarding, the pilot noticed a technical snag and informed the ATC.
Soon, the engineering team visited the spot and tried to rectify the fault. Meanwhile, passengers were made to stay in the waiting hall.
Later in the evening, the fault was rectified and the flight departed from Chennai after a delay of more than seven hours at 7.15 pm. There were claims that there was fuel leakage but airport sources confirmed that it was a minor technical issue, which was sorted out in a few hours.
