Physical hearing of cases resumes

After nearly five months, partial physical functioning of the court resumed on Monday at the Madras High Court and the subordinate courts in Chennai.

The proceedings at the High Court, wherein the sitting of six Benches split into pre and post lunch sessions to avoid overcrowding in courts and minimise the risk of COVID-19 spread, went smooth with strict adherence to social distancing.

But confusion prevailed at the entry of the subordinate courts where advocates dispersed only after official clarification that all subordinate courts have not resumed physical hearing.
