CHENNAI: There are hundreds of animals that are in need of a better life and a home to call their own. But, India’s animal abuse laws make it easy for breeders to follow unethical practices. Keeping this in mind, an animal rescuer from the city Kowmari started a non-profit organisation called iAdopt that aims at transforming the concept of owning a pet to adopting a pet. “Along with a few other animal lovers, I started the organisation in 2020. We believe in responsible pet parenting and have introduced an innovative foster-based animal adoption procedure without having a shelter. In 2020, we have conducted a few adoption drives across the city. After a gap, we are hosting another adoption drive and pet fests in the Kalakshetra Exhibition Grounds on October 8,9, 15 and 16 called Paw-llywood Fest. Those who are interested to adopt can walk in with their valid ID or address proof along with their house video to adopt or foster dogs and cats. This drive is aimed at homing Indian mongrel pups, dogs, kittens and cats,” says Kowmari.
