Passengers agitated over Air India, Air India Express flights delay at Chennai airport

The Air India flight to Singapore, scheduled to depart from the city at 12.35 am on Saturday, took off only at 2.05 am. The service to Sri Lanka, which was to leave at 12.55 am, departed at 2.25 a.m.

CHENNAI: Several Air India services from Chennai were delayed on Friday night and early Saturday, leaving passengers waiting for hours without clear updates.

The Air India flight to Singapore, scheduled to depart from the city at 12.35 am on Saturday, took off only at 2.05 am. The service to Sri Lanka, which was to leave at 12.55 am, departed at 2.25 a.m. Another Singapore-bound flight scheduled for 5.40 am was held back for three hours and left at 8.40 am. The reasons for the delay are unknown.

The domestic operations were also affected. The Air India Express flight to Hyderabad, scheduled for 10.10 pm on Friday, departed two hours behind schedule at 12.10 am.

Passengers reported that they were not given clear information about the delays. Many gathered near the airline’s counters to demand explanations, complaining that such disruptions occur frequently without prior notice.
