Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh is acting Chief Justice

Justice Huluvadi Gangadharappa Ramesh, the second senior most judge of the Madras High Court, took charge as the Acting Chief Justice.

Following the elevation of Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul to the Supreme Court and with him being sworn in on Friday, Justice Huluvadi Ramesh assumed charge as the acting chief justice on Friday based on a notification issued by the President of India. 

In a brief ceremony held in this regard Advocate General R Muthukumaraswamy welcomed him. Huluvadi Ramesh who started his practice in the courts at Mysore and Bangalore joined Karnataka Judicial Service as District Judge in 1993. Subsequently, he was promoted as District Judge in 2000. 

He was made an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court in 2003 and a permanent Judge in 2004. His tenure as judge prior to the present transfer was at the Allahabad High Court. As per reports, the Law Ministry has cleared the collegium recommendations for the appointment of chief justices to various high courts and forwarded the files to the PMO. As regards the Madras High Court, the collegium has recommended Justice H G Ramesh for Madras High Court.
