I work with a small start-up. My role is such that it never required a lot of interaction when compared to say, a marketing team. We have managed to switch to Zoom calls for meetings. But the physical interactions with my colleagues is something that I miss. We try to recreate it by having five-minute chats before our meetings. By this point in time, I was able to set up a routine for myself at home. I live alone, so there’s not much work to be done, and it only takes about half an hour in the morning. But the only issue with working from home is the distractions at hand. How I have tackled this is by channelling them into other avenues. I like to write and I like music. So I make sure I finish up work quickly so that I can work on those things.There’s the sacred rule of 30-minutes of Netflix while having dinner that cannot be interrupted, of course, but I also love sports and miss it a lot during the shutdown. So for 30 minutes a day, separate from dinner, I go onto YouTube and watch compilations of matches – be it football or cricket, it doesn’t matter. I am lucky that the grocery stores in my area are well-stocked, although bread is an issue. Meeting friends is another thing that I miss. It’s a different kind of life at home and one that needs adjusting to. But it’s different and I have been exploring other avenues.
