Heavy rain lashes Chennai, many roads waterlogged

Steady rains has been showering in the city from late Wednesday night and is expected to continue for 3 more hours, said IMD reports.

Loud crackling thunder, bright lightning and intense rain woke up many Chennai residents in several parts of the city on Thursday early morning.

The rains continued for several hours resulting in water logged roads in several localities. The monsoon rains has left the low lying areas in the city flooded with water. Areas around Anna nagar, T.Nagar, Ekkattuthangal, Velachery, Egmore and Royapettah recorded heavy rainfall since midnight.

Also the IMD had informed that heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in the interior parts of Tamilnadu, in districts like Tirunelveli, Thenkasi and Virudhunagar districts. The rainfall in the State is expected to continue for 2 more days, while the city is expected to witness rainfall for the day, for 3 more hours.
