Fed up with husband’s alcoholism, woman kills him, surrenders to cop

ARAKKONAM: Thakkolam police registered a case and arrested a 30-year-old woman who killed her husband with an iron crowbar and then surrendered before police in Tiruvallur district on Tuesday. Police said, Shobana (30) was married to Seeralan (38) of Uriyur village near Arakkonam. Seeralan worked in a sound service shop.

However the couple quarreled frequently as Seeralan was a drunkard and did not give money to his wife to run the family. Neighbours were shocked when they found Seeralan dead in a pool of blood in front of his house on Tuesday morning. They informed Thakkolam police who rushed to the spot. Meanwhile, Shobana surrendered at Mappedu police station in neighbouring Tiruvallur. Arakkonam police brought her back to Uriyur and arrested her.
