The accused Aziz Ur Rahman had been employed by Sula Desh Kumar Majhi of Gangai Amman Koil Street, a goldsmith, six months ago as he was from his native state of West Bengal.

While Aziz stayed on the terrace of the complainant’s house, he escaped with 39 gold chains weighing about 945 grams on July 31. While Sula Desh informed his relatives to alert him if Aziz shows up in his native place and did not lodge a complaint, he was informed by the Customs officials in Bengaluru airport that Aziz was arrested since he was found in possession of the jewellery without papers.

To get the gold back, Sula Desh Kumar lodged a complaint at Vadapalani police station on Sunday and an FIR has been registered.
