Drunk man bludgeons nine puppies to death

Police in Chennai booked a man for allegedly bludgeoning nine puppies to death while he was in an inebriated state, in the wee hours of Monday.

Guna, a resident of Avvai Street in Venkateshwara Nagar, Anakaputhur, was booked following a complaint from a local resident, M Karthikraj, who claimed to have witnessed the brutality. However, Guna is yet to be arrested.

According to the complainant, he saw Guna killing nine puppies, all aged one-and-a-half months. Karthikraj alleged that Guna beat them to death using a wooden log in front of the latter’s apartment early on Monday. He then allegedly threw seven of the dead puppies into a garbage vehicle parked nearby, while the other two were thrown into the bushes.

Following the complaint, Sankar Nagar police have registered case under the IPC 428, 429 and 268 and further investigation is on.
