CHENNAI: The EMU services between Tambaram-Beach were affected on Tuesday following a crack in the rail track near Meenambakkam.

The Chennai Beach EMU from Tambaram was heading towards Meenambakkam on Tuesday morning.

Around 5.45 am, the loco pilot noticed a strange noise coming from the rail track between Trisulam and Meenambakkam and so he operated the train at a slow speed.

After reaching the Meenambakkam railway station, the railway control room was alerted.

The railway staff who visited the spot found there was a crack in the track.

Soon, the EMU train services were stopped and it was announced that the train would be delayed.

The trains that started from Tambaram railway station were stopped in Chromepet and Sanatorium.

Then, the workers temporarily fixed the crack and after an hour the EMU services resumed by 7 am. However, the trains are operated at a low speed between Trisulam and Meenambakkam and once the crack is fully fixed the trains will be operated at the usual speed.

It may be noted on Monday the EMU services were affected after a goods train derailed near Chengalpattu, and the commuters were in a hassle.

The next day, the commuters faced difficulties since the train services were stopped in the morning for about one hour.
